The Minister of Environment reviews the latest developments in Egypt's road map for the COP27 climate conference

Yasser Badri Friday 4/1/2022 Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of the Environment, chaired the closing session of the workshop of the United Nations Secretariat’s mission, the Joint Operational Team for the COP27 Climate Conference in Egypt, as part of Egypt’s preparations to host the COP27 Climate Conference, which was held by the Ministry of Environment during the period from March 29 to 31, to discuss the roadmap for the Climate Conference, in the presence of Dr. Ali Abu Sunna, head of the Environmental Affairs Agency, Ambassador Ashraf Ibrahim, general coordinator of the logistical aspect of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Raouf Saad, advisor to the Minister of Environment for multilateral environmental agreements, Ambassador Ayman Tharwat, representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and representatives of a number of ministries, including civil aviation, tourism, antiquities, health, population, communications, and technology. The Minister listened to the points of agreement that resulted from the workshop and the challenges facing the participants, stressing the importance of reaching a clear vision for the conference road map and resolving the overlaps between the working groups. Dr. Yasmine Fouad stressed the keenness of Egypt and its political leadership to ensure that the conference comes out in the best possible way so that it becomes an icon that the world talks about in terms of organization, implementation and all activities, which is what Egypt is working on during the current period in cooperation with all competent authorities. The Minister of Environment reviewed the road map for preparing for Egypt to host the COP27 climate conference, which included all roles, work teams and specialists, in addition to logistical arrangements to ensure a distinctive experience for all Egypt’s guests during the conference. The Minister of Environment pointed out the importance of continuing the discussion on all joint arrangements and preparations to reach the best results on the ground and to benefit from previous experiences of climate conferences, to avoid any negatives that may appear before or during the conference and to transform them into positives and common interests for all parties and for the benefit of global environmental work. Stressing that the results of the mission will be presented to the higher committee headed by the Prime Minister concerned with preparing for the climate conference. The United Nations working team praised the Egyptian road map as it included all technical and logistical axes, wishing Egypt success in organizing the COP27 climate conference.
